Parque Ecológico Chipinque is a nature reserve in San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León, covering 1,791 hectares. You can plan a visit around its moderate trails, but entry, parking and summit access have separate rules to keep in mind.

  • Trail options: Camino a Olinalá is 1.4 km; San Agustín is 2.5 km. Both are moderate.

Where is Parque Ecológico Chipinque?

Parque Ecológico Chipinque is in San Pedro Garza García, in the state of Nuevo León, beside the Monterrey metropolitan area. The reserve has been operating since 1992 and spans 1,791 hectares of mountain landscape.

If you are planning other stops in the city, getting around Monterrey can help with the wider transport picture.

How do you get to the park entrance?

How do you get to the park entrance?

You can reach the reserve by car, but plan entry and parking as separate parts of the visit. The individual admission ticket does not include a parking space, and purchasing a parking ticket does not guarantee a space will be available when you arrive.

Parking runs Monday through Sunday, 05:30–19:00. General park hours run 05:30–21:00, with last vehicle entry at 19:00 and last pedestrian and cyclist entry without a vehicle at 20:00. The park road speed limit is 30 km/h. Park only in designated spaces; the visitor code also prohibits blocking curves, accessible parking spaces, fire hydrants, pedestrian crossings and trail entrances.

Ticket and operating details can change, so check the official site before you go. The reserve does not sell individual entry tickets at the gate, so arrange yours online before setting out.

Which trails can you choose?

Which trails can you choose?

The reserve’s official trail directory names Camino a Olinalá and San Agustín as moderate routes. Their distances and elevation gains can help you compare the options before choosing a walk.

Camino a Olinalá

This moderate route is 1.4 km long, with 187 m of elevation gain. It is the shorter of these two trails.

San Agustín

San Agustín is a 2.5 km moderate route with 687 m of elevation gain. It is longer and has more elevation gain than Camino a Olinalá.

Stay on established public trails and do not take shortcuts. Access to the four summits—“M,” Copete de las Águilas, La Ventana and Las Antenas—requires a permit; an individual entry ticket does not include summit access.

What should you know about tickets and park rules?

What should you know about tickets and park rules?

An individual entry ticket costs MXN 88 per person and grants access to Reserva Natural Chipinque. Children under 6 and people with disabilities do not pay for an individual ticket; the exemption for children under 6 is limited to two children per accompanying adult.

Individual tickets cannot be changed or refunded, and expired or already redeemed tickets are not accepted.

General parking costs MXN 50 and is separate from admission. The individual ticket also excludes professional photography permission. Keep in mind that parking availability is not guaranteed, even with a parking ticket.

The visitor code prohibits smoking, including electronic cigarettes; lighting fires; leaving waste; bringing pets, drones or alcoholic drinks; and feeding or approaching wildlife. Rule violations may result in a MXN 1,500 fine and/or referral to the authorities, while repeated violations may lead to a reserve ban.

How should you plan around conditions and hours?

Parking hours and general park hours differ, so plan your arrival and departure around the hours that apply to your visit.

For a smoother arrival, buy the individual ticket online, decide whether you need a separate parking ticket, and choose a trail that suits the distance and elevation gain you want to cover.
